Taste high-grown Gopaldhara teas
Find Gopaldhara's teas in a Mirik or Darjeeling tea shop and taste a first flush against a second flush. A simple way to understand what height does to tea, without needing a factory visit.

Gopaldhara's teas are sold under the estate's name through specialist shops and sellers in India and abroad. In the hills, ask in good tea shops in Mirik and Darjeeling for Gopaldhara first and second flush.
Brew each at about 90–95 °C for 3–4 minutes, without milk. Compare the light, flowery first flush of spring with the fuller second flush of early summer. Look at the leaf: high-grown first flush often has a lot of green and silvery tips.
Buy small amounts and ask for the flush and date on the pack. Darjeeling tea is best within a year of manufacture.
Cost: ₹200–600 for samples and a pot
Questions people ask
Good to know
Where can I buy Gopaldhara tea?
In specialist tea shops in Darjeeling and Mirik, and from online sellers in India and abroad. We have not confirmed a regular retail outlet at the estate itself; ask locally. Check the pack for the estate name, flush and manufacture date.
How should I brew Darjeeling first flush?
Use about 2–3 g of leaf per cup, water just off the boil at about 90–95 °C, and steep for 3–4 minutes. Drink it without milk. Longer or hotter brewing makes it bitter.
Is Gopaldhara tea expensive?
It depends on the grade and lot. Regular grades cost a few hundred rupees per 100 g, while special first-flush or experimental lots cost much more. Taste before buying large amounts if the shop allows.
