Walk Gorkhey to Rammam via Samanden
A varied half-day walk: a steep climb out of the Gorkhey valley to Samanden's fields, a gentler stretch through forest and farmland, then the descent to Rammam. Villages, birds and views all the way.
Leave Gorkhey after breakfast and cross the stream. The path climbs steeply through forest for the first hour, then breaks out into Samanden's terraces. Take a break here for tea or simply to look back over the Gorkhey valley.
From Samanden the trail contours and drops through fields and patches of forest toward Rammam. It is a pleasant, easy stretch with views across the valleys toward Sikkim. Look for birds in the forest edges and for the first signs of a larger village: more houses, a school, prayer flags across the path.
Rammam is a bigger village with several family lodges. If you have time and energy, continue down to Srikhola the same afternoon; otherwise, sleep at Rammam and walk to Srikhola the next morning.
