Tandem paragliding off Deolo hill
Fly tandem with a pilot from Deolo's slopes over Kalimpong and the Relli valley. Flights last 10–25 minutes and need calm, clear weather; no experience needed, but book with a licensed operator.

Deolo's open slopes and the drop to the valleys below make it Kalimpong's paragliding hill. Private operators run tandem flights, where you are strapped in front of a trained pilot who does all the flying. After a short run down the slope you are airborne, with the town, Dr Graham's Homes and the river valleys spread out beneath you.
Prices depend on flight length: about ₹2,500 for a short flight and up to ₹4,500 for a longer one, with extra for photos or video. Flights are possible on calm, clear days outside the monsoon, generally from October to May. Wind or low cloud can stop flying for hours, so keep your schedule loose and be ready to wait.
Choose an operator through your hotel and ask about licensing, insurance and equipment. Wear closed shoes, a jacket and sunglasses. There are weight limits, typically about 20–100 kg, and people with heart, back or pregnancy concerns should not fly. Rules and operators change, so check current status before you travel.
