Ramitey Dara from Icchey Gaon
Walk with a guide to Ramitey Dara, the viewpoint where the Teesta winds in a long chain of bends far below, often counted as 14. Morning light, a forest trail and a view that is hard to believe.

Ramitey Dara is the best-known viewpoint in the villages north-east of Kalimpong. From its ridge, you look down on the Teesta, the river that drains nearly all of Sikkim, as it loops through its valley in a long series of bends, often counted as 14. Behind, the hills of Sikkim rise in ridges.
From Icchey Gaon the walk takes about 1.5–2 hours each way on trails through forest and farmland. Take a local guide, about ₹600–1,000, as the paths are not marked. Some people combine it with Sillery Gaon, which is closer to the viewpoint, and get a car back.
Go early: the river's bends are clearest in the morning, before haze and cloud fill the valley. October and November are best. Carry water and snacks, as there is nothing at the top but prayer flags and the view.
Cost: Guide ₹600–1,000
