Seven Sisters waterfall on the highway
Seven Sisters is a tall, multi-step waterfall right beside the North Sikkim road near Tumlong, between Kabi and Phodong. Most vehicles stop for five minutes. It is at its fullest from July to October and thinnest in late winter.

The waterfall drops down the hillside in a series of steps, which gives it its name, before passing under the highway. A viewing area, a few stalls and a small parking space make it the standard first photo stop for North Sikkim tours, about an hour and a half out of Gangtok.
Its size depends on the season. From July to October, after the monsoon, the falls are full and loud, and spray reaches the road. By February and March the flow drops to a few streams. Either way it is a pleasant pause to stretch your legs and buy tea or roasted corn from the stalls.
Keep children well away from the road edge and from wet rocks. Do not climb up the falls; people have been hurt. In heavy rain, landslides near waterfalls are a real risk, so follow your driver's lead about stopping. Litter bins are few; take your cups and wrappers with you.
Cost: Free · tea ₹20–40
