Walk down to Srikhola and back
On a spare day in Rimbik, walk the quiet road down to the river village of Srikhola, about 2 hours each way, through forest and farmland. Lunch by the bridge, then walk or jeep back up.
The road from Rimbik to Srikhola is about 6–7 km, descending gently through mixed forest, terraced fields and small hamlets. Traffic is light: a few jeeps, villagers on foot and the odd mule train. Birdlife along the way is good in the early morning.
At Srikhola, cross to the bridge over the river, prayer flags snapping above the water. The riverside lodges serve lunch: dal-bhat, noodles or momos. Sit by the water for an hour before the climb back.
Walking back up takes about 2–2.5 hours. If you are tired, ask about a jeep back to Rimbik; there are occasional shared ones and reserved jeeps can be arranged. This walk stays below the national park, but check with locals whether any park rules apply on the stretch you choose.
