Questions people ask

Good to know

What is the cheapest way from Siliguri to Lataguri?

A bus towards Malbazar or Maynaguri costs about ₹100–150 and takes two and a half to three and a half hours, or an unreserved seat on a Dooars line train to New Mal Junction costs well under ₹100. From Malbazar, local transport covers the last 15 km. Allow a full morning.

Which is better, Sevoke road or Jalpaiguri road?

Both work. The Sevoke road via the Coronation Bridge and Malbazar is the usual choice and passes tea gardens; the Jalpaiguri and Maynaguri road is flatter and sometimes faster from the south of Siliguri. Your driver will choose by traffic and road works on the day.

Can we reach Lataguri from Bagdogra airport directly?

Yes. Bagdogra to Lataguri is about 90 km and roughly two and a half hours by car, ₹3,000–3,800 for a reserved taxi. Most drivers skip central Siliguri and join the Sevoke road. If your flight lands after 3 pm, you will arrive after dark.

Is the road through the forest to Lataguri safe at night?

The highway is open, but elephants and gaur cross after dark and speed limits are enforced. Drivers slow down and sometimes stop for herds. We prefer daylight arrivals. Do not get out of the car for photographs if an animal is on the road.
