Tashiding is the lesser-known sister of Morgan House: an old bungalow inside the same estate on Durpin hill, managed by West Bengal Tourism (WBTDC). Do not confuse it with Tashiding monastery in West Sikkim; this one is a guest house of a handful of rooms, with a sitting room, a garden and the same ridge-top quiet that makes Morgan House popular.
Because it is small, it suits families or two couples travelling together who want the Durpin setting without paying for the bigger house. Meals come from the Morgan House kitchen or are cooked to order; confirm when you book. As with every government lodge, upkeep varies year to year, so read recent traveller comments and check current status before you travel.

Is Tashiding Tourist Lodge the same as Morgan House?
No. Both are run by West Bengal Tourism and share the same estate on Durpin hill, but Tashiding is a separate, smaller colonial bungalow with its own rooms. Guests can walk the Morgan House lawns. If Morgan House is full on your dates, Tashiding is the natural second choice and is often a little cheaper.
Is this the Tashiding in Sikkim?
No. Tashiding monastery is in West Sikkim, near Yuksom and Pelling, about four hours away by road. Tashiding Tourist Lodge is a government guest house in Kalimpong town, on Durpin hill. Check the address on your booking voucher, because mix-ups do happen when people search online.
Does Tashiding Tourist Lodge serve food?
Meals are usually available from the lodge or the Morgan House kitchen next door: plain Indian and Chinese dishes, eggs and toast for breakfast. Tell the staff your dinner order by late afternoon.
