The WBFDC lodge at Lepchajagat is one of the forest corporation's eco-tourism stays, set among tall trees about 19 km from Darjeeling on the road to Sukhia Pokhari and Mirik. It is small, which keeps it quiet: six rooms in a two-storey building, with the two first-floor rooms having private balconies that look towards the snow peaks on clear mornings. The forest corporation chose the site for its trees and its silence, and there is no town around it, only a few village houses and a small tea shop or two by the road.

Bookings open 90 days before the date of stay on the WBFDC online portal, and the balcony rooms go first for October–November and spring weekends. The day here is simple: dawn at the village viewpoint, birds in the forest, a walk to Ghoom or Sukhia, and an early dinner because the evenings are cold. Tariffs and booking rules change, so check current status before you travel.

Very little, which is the point. You watch the dawn on Kanchenjunga from the village viewpoint, walk the forest roads for birds, and visit Ghoom or Sukhia Pokhari by shared jeep. About 19 km, roughly 45 minutes to an hour by road via Ghoom on the road to Sukhia Pokhari and Mirik. A reserved car costs about ₹1,200–1,800 one way, or you can take a shared jeep towards Sukhia Pokhari and get off at Lepchajagat. Check current status before you travel in the monsoon.
