Mirik rewards a slow stay. This trip gives you three nights in one comfortable room with a view of the lake, so you can walk at dawn, nap after lunch and watch the light change in the evening without packing a bag.

A private car opens up the valley: the famous tea viewpoints on the climb from Dudhia, the monastery hill, and a morning on the high slopes of Gopaldhara, at up to 2,100 m one of the highest tea gardens in Darjeeling. Good for couples and for parents travelling with grown-up children.

Questions people ask

Questions about this trip

Is the price per person?

Yes. ₹18,500 is per person on twin sharing for Indian nationals, from NJP or Bagdogra and back, as an indicative 2025–26 figure. Solo travellers pay more for rooms and cars; groups of four sharing a car pay less. We round to the nearest ₹500.

Can we start from Bagdogra airport instead of NJP?

Yes. Bagdogra is about 30 minutes from Siliguri and a little further from NJP. Shared autos and taxis link the airport to the Siliguri jeep stands. With a reserved car, the fare from Bagdogra is about the same as from NJP.

Can we change the number of nights?

Yes. Add a night where you want more time, usually in the village stops, or drop one on a tight schedule. Keep at least two nights in any place where you want a clear dawn view, since weather can spoil one morning.

Which hotel do you use in Mirik for this trip?

We suggest a lake-view room in one of Krishnanagar's better family hotels, or the GTA's Swiss Cottages on the hill above the lake for space and quiet. Prices vary by season; compare current rates before booking.

Can we visit the Gopaldhara factory?

Factory visits are not routine and depend on the estate. We plan the morning around the high garden roads, the view and a tasting in Mirik, so the trip works without a factory visit. Ask locally; sometimes access is possible.

Is this trip good for a honeymoon?

Yes. One comfortable room for three nights, a private car, quiet mornings by the lake and a misty tea-garden dawn make it a calm, romantic trip at a moderate cost. Ask for a room with a lake view and a heater in winter.

Can we add Darjeeling?

Yes. On day 4, instead of going down to NJP, drive about 2 hours over the ridge via Sukhia Pokhari to Darjeeling and stay two nights there. The car fare from Mirik to Darjeeling is about ₹2,500–3,200.

What is the best time for this trip?

November and December for clear mornings and oranges; March to May for tea and spring. The Gopaldhara mist-and-sunrise effect is best on clear winter mornings.

Is a private car really needed in Mirik?

Not for the town itself, which is small. It is useful for the viewpoint stops on the way up, the monastery hill and the dawn drive to Gopaldhara. If you prefer, use the car only on those days.
