Kurseong, Mirik & the tea valleys · Value trip
Our longest trip in the land, at a walking pace. Two nights each in Kurseong, a Makaibari tea family, Sittong and Mirik, and one at Latpanchar for hornbills. Mostly homestays and shared jeeps, with cars only where there is no other way. From about ₹31,000 per person.

This trip is for people with time who want to know a place rather than tick it off. Nine nights let you settle into each stop: a town, a tea garden, an orange village, a forest village and a lake. You eat with families most nights and learn more from them than from any sight.
We keep costs down with shared jeeps where they run and village homestays with meals, and use a reserved car only for the cross-country legs that have no regular transport. The pace is relaxed; most days have one main activity and plenty of time to rest.

Questions people ask
Yes. ₹31,000 is per person on twin sharing for Indian nationals, from NJP or Bagdogra and back, as an indicative 2025–26 figure. Solo travellers pay more for rooms and cars; groups of four sharing a car pay less. We round to the nearest ₹500.
Yes. Bagdogra is about 30 minutes from Siliguri and a little further from NJP. Shared autos and taxis link the airport to the Siliguri jeep stands. With a reserved car, the fare from Bagdogra is about the same as from NJP.
Yes. Add a night where you want more time, usually in the village stops, or drop one on a tight schedule. Keep at least two nights in any place where you want a clear dawn view, since weather can spoil one morning.
Travellers with time who prefer depth to distance: retired couples, students on a break, writers, photographers and anyone who wants to live briefly in a tea garden and a farming village. If you want many sights, a shorter trip suits you better.
Mostly, but not completely. Shared jeeps cover Siliguri, Kurseong and Mirik well, but Makaibari to Sittong and Latpanchar to Mirik have no practical shared transport. Pooling a car with other guests is the cheapest solution.
Probably not, if you enjoy walking, reading, food and conversation. Each village stop has one main activity per day and lots of free time. Bring a book, binoculars and curiosity.
Parts of it are, at lower prices, but Mahananda sanctuary closes, village roads become slippery and landslides can cut routes. If you come between June and September, keep flexible days and skip Latpanchar.
Enough for at least four or five days of village stays, homestay payments, guides and jeeps, since ATMs are only in Kurseong and Mirik. UPI works in many places but not all; carry cash as a back-up.
Yes. Drop one night each at Kurseong, Makaibari and Sittong. You keep all the places but lose the slack days. Or follow our seven-night Comfort loop with homestays instead of hotels.
